Interview with Selena Millman

Hi Selena Millman, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Oltobooks : Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Selena Millman : I have had arthritis since I was 4-years-old. I spent most of my life in a wheelchair and using crutches. I do not dwell on my disability. It is only part of who I am. I am a follower of Jesus. I believe the Lord gave me the gift of imagination and writing to help cope with the pain. It is a great coping skill. Before I knew the Lord, He blessed me with my imagination.
Oltobooks : What are your ambitions for your writing career?
Selena Millman : I would like to inspire and help somehow. If I can help one person, it is worth it.
Oltobooks : When did you decide to become a writer?
Selena Millman : I had an idea that would not go away. I felt I had to start writing. I consider my first stories practice stories.
Oltobooks : Why do you write?
Selena Millman : Writing started as a hobby. Now it is so much more. I write because it is part of who I am.
Oltobooks : What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
Selena Millman : I started to write because I had an idea for so long I felt I had to write it. It felt like it chased me down.
Oltobooks : Where do your ideas come from?
Selena Millman : I feel my ideas come from the Lord. I don't feel I control the ideas. They come as they come. I go with the flow.
Oltobooks : What is the hardest thing about writing?
Selena Millman : The hardest thing for me is the titles.
Oltobooks : What is the easiest thing about writing?
Selena Millman : The easiest thing for me is my characters.
Oltobooks : If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Selena Millman : I do not usually write series. I do have three stories that have sequels. I am working on a sequel now. I do have one story that has been a series. All my fictional stories are character driven. The series I have is about Ty. He had been taken from his family as a baby. When they finally got Ty back, Ty had to work through the pain he had been through.
Oltobooks : What are your thoughts on writing a book series?
Selena Millman : I go where the ideas take me.
Oltobooks : What is your favourite positive saying?
Selena Millman : I don't know that I have one.
Oltobooks : Where can you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Selena Millman : I see myself still writing. I hope to get better at promoting and selling. I also hope to follow the Lord more closely.
Oltobooks : What advice would you give to your younger self?
Selena Millman : I would say hang in there. Things won't always be like this. There are kind people in the world. I would also tell myself about the Lord.
