Interview with John Sealey

Hi John Sealey, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Oltobooks : Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
John Sealey : I have spent my entire working life in the film and television industry, beginning my career in the cutting rooms, becoming a film editor, working on many international feature films, as well as major filmed television series. I then decided to widen my scope, and move into production becoming an assistant director, then moving into production management becoming a production manager, production supervisor, associate producer, and finally Producer/Director working with many of the major US and British studios. I have has also written and directed many commercials, documentaries and feature films. I now concentrates his creative mind on writing, starting with the adaptation of bestselling author Anne Perry’s quintet of books, ‘No Graves As Yet’ ‘Angels In The Gloom’ ‘At Some Disputed Barricade’ ‘Shoulder The Sky’ ‘We Shall Not Sleep’ a murder mystery thriller, spanning the First World War into an epic television series. Anne Perry considers it to be the best adaptation of any of her books. I then went on to write:- IF A WICKED MAN: The biography of John Lawson, one-time violent criminal who thought the world owed him a living and everything was there for the taking. His life of crime had no boundaries, until one day in his last, long prison stretch, he found God. The film rights have been acquired by a major international film company. Production is scheduled for later this year. CATESBY’S HOLY WAR: A historical drama with co-writer Ric Gannon, the true account of Robert Catesby, the Bin Laden of his time and the parallels with 9/11. . A RAINY DAY ON WALL STREET: An erotic tale of romance, sexuality, materialism, self-liberation, that explores the lives of two richly-layered characters from opposite ends of the political spectrum. THE REDUNDANT FUGITIVE: A story surrounding the unusual circumstances that ruin a man's life. Amit an Asian, living in England, a skilled marine engineer, is made redundant and as a result is innocently drawn into the sordid world of drugs, protection rackets, loan sharks, prostitution and sex trafficking. As his world begins to collapse, he decides to fight back and eventually has to go on the run. THE MAGIC WISHBONE: A children’s fairy tale story BEHIND THE GAME: set in Mumbai, India, a murder mystery thriller that explores the heartaches, joys, sorrows, successes, failures, passions, intrigues, and the intricately crooked dealings of the financial world surrounding the game of cricket. HITLER’S CUCKOOS, a compelling, at times harrowing story based on a situation which really happened early in World War Two, during the conquest and occupation of Norway which covers an aspect of it of which many of us were not aware. This moving story more than most, shows in sharp detail the inescapable horror of the betrayal and occupation of a once friendly nation. This story will deepen our understanding of what it costs and how precious peace can be and why sometimes we have to fight for it. A YOUNG MAN’S AWAKENING: set in the 19th century, a story of Michael Flanagan, a young lad who family is devastated by the Potato Famine in Ireland and manages to escape to Liverpool, where he is saved from destitution by Leon, a freed American Slave works as a bouncer in an up market brothel having manage to escape to England. Leon impressed with his ability with his fists, gets him a job at the brothel. Michael meets Maisie one of the prostitutes and she awakens to a whole new world and they fall in love from narrow Catholic up-brining that sex outside of marriage is a sin and is the work of the Devil. A wealthy Lord, a frequent visitor to the brothel impressed with Michael’s boxing skills, offers to sponsor him and have him trained as a bare knuckle fighter. Michael does well. However, Madame Rosita, the owner of the brothel, thinks it would be a money spinner for Michael to fight Leon, white against black. Michael and Leon refuse to fight each other and plan to escape to America. Eventually after many narrow escapes Michael and Maisie make to America. Leon refuses for fear he will caught by the slave catchers and sold back into slavery. Michael and Maisie find work in an upmarket brothel, but his reputation with his fists gets him involved with bare knuckle fighting once again and is forced into a bare knuckle fight against the leader of the Whyos, one the notorious Gangs of New York. THE GRAPPLING GAME, comedy screenplay based on All In Wrestling. I AM a FREEMAN OF THE CITY OF LONDON
